The Australian Defence Force has opened applications for the 2023 Cyber Gap program, a career opportunities program for students studying for a cybersecurity qualification at university or TAFE.
The annual program, which is run in partnership with Digital Profession, is designed to give participants an awareness of the cyber-related career pathways available at Defence and encourage participants to apply for those roles, according to the Head of Defence’s Information Warfare Division, Major General Susan Coyle.
“We support participants to realise their capability by providing them with an opportunity to enhance their cyber skills and progress their career,” she said.
“The graduates of the program will play an important role in building a strong, diverse cyber workforce that is essential for the cyber resilience of our military in support of national security.”
During the program, participants will be guided by cyber mentors through an opportunity to experience the type of cyber-related careers that exist in the ADF and related departments and agencies.
The program forms part of Defence’s commitment to boost Australia’s sovereign cyber workforce capability, Coyle said. It is open to Australian citizens who are already enrolled in, or about to commence, cyber-related studies.
Applications for the program are now open, and will be accepted until 31 October.
