ADVANCING AUKUS CONFERENCE
The conference is the launch event of Security & Defence PLuS, a core initiative of the PLuS Alliance. The PLuS Alliance is a partnership between Arizona State University, King’s College London and UNSW, which combines the strengths of three leading research universities on three continents with a focus on solving global challenges.
The Advancing AUKUS conference is being hosted on behalf of Security & Defence PLuS by the National Press Club of Australia. The conference provides a platform for informed and practically focused policy discussion about this vital new partnership between Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. We aim to assist in delivering the innovation, industrial, science and technology skills that the AUKUS partnership anticipates.
We have invited the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, the Hon Richard Marles MP, to talk on Advancing the AUKUS Agenda, as well an impressive array of current and former senior military, diplomatic and policy-making figures. The Australian Opposition Defence spokesman will speak, for example, along with senior industry, FFDRC, public policy and diplomatic figures from all three countries. Our audience will include 180 invited guests with strong representation from Defence, industry, the academic and diplomatic community.
Looking ahead, we hope that the Advancing AUKUS conference will launch a closer engagement between UNSW in Canberra and Sydney, our Security and Defence PluS partners, and Defence policy makers.
