Building Australia’s Sovereign Capability:

At Quantum Systems Australia (QSA), sovereign capability is being advanced through its manufacturing facility in Redbank, Queensland, a key contributor to strengthening Australia’s defence industrial base and supporting regional partners across the Indo-Pacific.

Redbank has quickly evolved into a centre of excellence for the production, assembly, and testing of uncrewed aerial systems (UAS). Each system represents not only advanced engineering but also Australia’s growing ability to design, build, and sustain mission-critical technology onshore.

“Our Redbank facility is proof that world-class capability can be delivered locally,” said Michael Lillehagen, Managing Director of Quantum Systems Australia. “We’ve built an ecosystem that not only supports our defence customers here at home but also strengthens regional supply resilience for partners across the APAC region.”

As a sovereign manufacturer of advanced UAS, QSA is enabling Australia to contribute to a more resilient and self-reliant regional defence network. The company’s scalable production lines and integrated training capabilities position Redbank to serve both domestic and export requirements, ensuring Australia can meet growing demand for reliable, interoperable systems that enhance Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations.

From border protection and maritime surveillance to emergency response and environmental monitoring, Quantum Systems’ long-endurance ISR platforms are already proving their value. They provide real-time situational awareness across vast operational environments, supplying critical data when it matters most.

“Demand across the region continues to grow as countries are looking for trusted partners who can deliver reliable technology, backed by a commitment to long-term support. Redbank gives us the ability to respond quickly and deliver that confidence,” Michael said.

With the Indo-Pacific emerging as one of the fastest-growing UAS markets, Quantum Systems is placing Australia at the centre of that growth. As governments across the region focus on sovereign technology development, surveillance, and capability enhancement, QSA’s local manufacturing and engineering teams are delivering results.

“Every system that leaves our facility carries with it Australian innovation, precision, and pride,” Michael said. “We’re building capability that stays here, including knowledge, jobs, and a future-ready workforce.”

Quantum Systems’ investment in Redbank demonstrates how Australian industry is supporting national defence objectives while driving innovation, employment, and export potential. The sovereign manufacturing journey is just beginning, and it’s happening right here in Queensland.
