Warbirds Over Scone returns to the Upper Hunter NSW on Saturday 28 – Sunday 29 March 2026 with the biggest lineup of historic warbirds and frontline fighters in the Southern Hemisphere. In a single weekend you can experience Australia’s largest gathering of Supermarine Spitfires since WWII, multiple P-51/CA-18 Mustangs and P-40 Kittyhawks, plus the world’s only flying F4U-1D Corsair, Australia’s only airworthy Hawker Sea Fury and de Havilland T.55 Vampire, alongside crowd-favourites such as the BAC Strikemaster, Grumman Avenger, PC-9, T-28 Trojans, Harvard, CAC Wirraway and plenty more still to be announced. The blockbuster lineup is tied together by world-class aerobatics from Paul Bennet Airshows, including solo displays and the stunning Sky Aces Pitts formation team.
Set against the backdrop of the Hunter Valley’s wine country at Scone Airport, the show blends once-in-a-lifetime flying displays with a relaxed festival vibe that’s easy to plan around. Gates 9:00–17:00 each day, with flying from late morning to mid-afternoon, giving you time to grab a coffee, tour the onsite Hunter Warbirds museum, chat with exhibitors and settle in before the action starts. Displays roll from one highlight to the next with the soundscape alone worth the trip – the bark of radials, the whistle of early jet engines and the unmistakable growl of the Merlin V12 at full song. On the ground you’ll find vintage military vehicles, classic show cars, market stalls, a Kids Zone and plenty of local food operators – ideal for families and groups.
Want to up the adrenaline? Book a Yak-52 aerobatic adventure flight during the weekend or take in the scenes with a helicopter joy flight. The event also boasts a serious static line-up that includes ex-mil jets such as MB-326, Mirage IIIO, MiG-17F and Hawker Hunter – perfect for photos and walk-arounds. RAAF/Defence participation is historically strong, including F-35 flypasts, heritage formations and Air Force Roulettes, noting that support is subject to operational requirements and confirmed closer to the date.
If you’re turning it into a long weekend, accommodation is available in Scone and nearby Aberdeen, Muswellbrook, Denman and Murrurundi, or base yourself among the vines in Pokolbin/Cessnock and day-trip to the show. Scone is roughly 3.5 hours from Sydney and 2 hours from Newcastle by road. GA pilots are welcome with fly-in options and details available via the event site.
Concessions: Discounted concession tickets are available for DVA cardholders plus active service members.
