Veterans don’t stop serving when the uniform comes off, but the support they receive too often does.
KSC Claims is a veteran-led advocacy provider delivering smart, trauma-informed support to current and former members of the Australian Defence Force as they navigate the often complex Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) claims process.
Founded by two former RAAF Veterans, Luke Armstrong and Matthew Dumars, KSC Claims has helped more than 3000 veterans since its establishment in March 2020, guiding them through claims, appeals, and entitlements.
Both Luke and Matthew experienced the system’s frustrations firsthand after their discharges. What began as peer support quickly evolved into a professional, scalable model of ethical advocacy, combining military insight with a modernised digital platform to better serve the veteran community.
From Personal Frustration to National Support
Luke and Matthew’s journeys into veteran advocacy began organically.
Luke was medically discharged due to injury. Despite being relatively well-informed, he quickly discovered how slow, complex, and emotionally draining the DVA system could be at times.
“Realising that if I was struggling, countless others without the same resources must be too, I began helping mates informally by reviewing decision letters, explaining entitlements, and just being a listening ear,” Luke said. “Word spread quickly, and soon I was fielding calls from veterans across Australia and overseas.”
That momentum turned into a mission. He teamed up with Matthew, who had served nearly nine years in the RAAF before an injury disrupted his path to becoming a Physical Training Instructor (PTI). After transitioning into civilian life, Matthew worked in injury rehabilitation and management, gaining practical knowledge that would later become crucial in his work with veterans.
Together, they have built what they had both wished for during their own transitions: an ethical, transparent support service staffed by people who understand the system and, more importantly, the Defence mindset.
Veteran Advocacy That Goes the Distance
KSC Claims has earned its reputation for being responsive, transparent, and veteran-first. Every veteran receives regular updates, plain-language communication, and support from a trauma-informed team that genuinely understands life after service.
With no upfront fees and guaranteed 12-hour response times, the KSC team delivers what they wish they’d had during their own transitions: advocacy that’s personal, proactive, and built on lived experience.
What sets KSC apart is a bold commitment to innovation and reform. Working alongside health providers, allied professionals – and even the DVA itself – they’re reshaping the veteran claims process to be faster, fairer, and more human.
As a Veteran Employer of Choice, KSC also invests in hiring and mentoring ex-serving personnel – creating a workplace where veterans are heard, respected, and empowered to thrive. And they’re only getting started.
Their five-year plan includes:
- Expanding services into regional and remote communities, with a focus on further improving access to female veterans and underrepresented groups
- Launching a veteran education platform to increase awareness around entitlements
- Partnering with allied health professionals to deliver integrated, holistic care
- Mentoring the next generation of veteran advocates and frontline support leaders
KSC Claims isn’t just helping veterans navigate the system; they’re transforming it.
Built by veterans, for veterans. If you’re stuck in the system, we’ve got your back.
